Heritage Projects 2022

Ann Lawlor, Project Manager Creative Ireland Laois; Frances Kerry Larosa, Deputy Principal Mountmellick CS; Artist James Kirwan; Angela McEvoy, Director of Services Laois County Council; Cllr Paddy Bracken, Cathaoirleach of the Borris in Ossory Mountmellick Municipal District and Catherine Casey, Laois Heritage Officer at the launch of Mountmellick’ mural celebrating Ireland’s Swift (Apus apus) by street artist James Kirwan. Mountmellick is a stronghold within County Laois for these charismatic and threatened birds. Supported by Creative Ireland Laois as part of the Creative Ireland Programme, in partnership with Laois County Council Heritage Office, and BirdWatch Ireland.

- Work with communities in Clopook, Dysart Gallen and Kilmanman on the Conservation and Pollination project
- Promote Heritage Council’s Heritage Maps system

- “In Your Nature Podcast” in partnership with BirdWatch Ireland and Offaly County Council
- Deliver on the local aims of the National Biodiversity Action Plan (NBAP)
- Collaborate with Culture Team to deliver on the aims of Creative Ireland in Laois
- Collaborate with the Climate Action Team to deliver on the aims of the Laois Climate Action Plan
- Work with Col Fitzmaurice Commemoration Committee to organise Laois Festival of Flight April 2022
- Manage the Community Monuments Fund in Laois
- Commission film to mark the 120th anniversary of the Gordon Bennett Race.
