With Laois moving into Level 5 of the Government’s ‘Plan for Living with COVID-19’ all branch libraries in Laois will now close from close of business Wednesday 21st of October. Library staff will now concentrate on promoting and providing online services for its members.

Online Storytime, will be delivered by the staff of Laois Libraries on social media Laois Libraries face book page, this includes Baby book club, 0-3 years Tuesday and Thursday, weekly at 10.30am.  Book bugs club, 4-7 years and Rocket Readers 8-12 years Friday, fortnightly at 10.30am. Adult Literature at Eleven, Thursday, fortnightly at 11.00am. A season of classic film noir featuring links to free online films and related library staff written articles, this will be available weekly from Thursday 1st October 2020 at 7.00pm.

Fighting Words Laois-Volunteers Needed!

Laois County Library Service in association with Local Creative Youth
Partnership / LOETB and supported by Creative Ireland Laois is
establishing a FIGHTING WORDs programme in Laois. The aim is to help
children, young people, and adults to discover and harness the power
of their imaginations and creative writing skills.


If you are interested in becoming a Fighting Words volunteer, contact the Laois County Library Service Fighting Words Coordinator, Jackie McIntyre on 057 8594980 or email for more information.

You may then be invited to fill out an online volunteer application form and attend an Information Event and/or Training Session in Mountmellick Library in late summer 2020.
