Laois County Council has established a Ukrainian Response Inter Agency Working Group in order to bring local agencies together to ascertain the combined organisational capacity and to assist each other through the current evolving crisis on a collaborative basis.

Do you or your children need access to education. TUSLA is the Child and Family Agency responsible for improving wellbeing and outcomes for children. Tusla Education Support Service (TESS) is working with the Department of Education to support families arriving from the Ukraine in accessing education and language support
National Parents Council Primary (NPC) has just launched a new Helpline for Ukrainian parents who have recently arrived in Ireland. The Helpline will help parents with any questions they might have relating to their children’s education in Ireland, and we have a Helpline Officer who speaks Ukrainian and Russian. If you are a Ukrainian citizen or if you are fleeing Ukraine the Government of Ireland will provide support and services to assist you to establish yourself in Ireland.
Do you need income support? To access income supports you will need Personal Public Services Number (PPSN). Your PPSN is a unique reference number that helps you get social welfare benefits and public services in Ireland. All adults and children will need their own PPSN. More information on income support can obtained from the Department of Social Welfare

Drivers Licence
Minister for Transport Eamon Ryan has today announced that Ukrainians fleeing the war can now exchange their Ukrainian driving licence for an Irish driving licence, making it easier for them to move around and access work, school or other vital public services. Read full article here.
The new licence will be valid for 12 months and will apply to cars only.
An application to exchange a licence can be made in any National Driver Licence Service (NDLS) centre. An appointment to attend an NDLS centre can be booked online.
The Road Safety Authority will provide detailed information on driving in Ireland including a detailed FAQ for Ukrainian drivers which covers topics such as driving a car in Ireland and vehicle safety.
