Notification for the Temporary Road Closure in Pepper’s Lane, Portlaoise

In accordance with the provisions of Section 75 of the above Act and Article 12 of the Roads Regulations, 1994, Laois County Council hereby serves notice that it is intended to temporarily close Pepper’s Lane, off Lyster Square, Portlaoise between 8am and 3pm on Fridays the 14th, 21st & 28th June and 5th July, 2019. The closure is necessary to facilitate Portlaoise Summer Festival.

Organisers will be erecting the appropriate signage. Local access will be provided in emergencies.  A map indicating the route to be closed and the alternative routes will be available for inspection at  www.laois.ie and Áras an Chontae, Portlaoise.

Any person wishing to object to the proposed road closure should do so in writing to the Administrative Officer, Roads Section, Laois County Council, not later than 4.00 pm on Wednesday 5th June 2019.

 

Notification for the Temporary Road Closure in Timahoe Road, Portlaoise

In accordance with the provisions of Section 75 of the above Act and Article 12 of the Roads Regulations, 1994, Laois County Council hereby serves notice that it is intended to temporarily close the R-426-0 (New Road) from its junction with the L-63106-0 to its intersection with Lismard Business Park in Portlaoise, Co. Laois. The closure also includes the roundabout where the R–426-0 intersects with the R-941-2.

This complete 24hr closure is scheduled to take place from Monday, 1st July 2019 to Friday 30th August 2019 to facilitate major road works.

Access for businesses/residents will be accommodated where possible. Diversions will be clearly signposted. See map of the diversion route below.

Heartlands Rally

NOTICE OF INTENTION

In accordance with the provisions of Section 75 of the above Act and Article 12 of the Roads Regulations, 1994, Laois County Council hereby serves notice that it is intended to temporarily close the following roads in the vicinity of Ballyroan, Wolfhill, Luggacurren & Timahoe between 09.00a.m and 19.00 p.m. on 9th June, 2019. The closure is necessary to facilitate the Heartlands Rally for Laois Rally Sports Club. The following is a list of roads which are to be closed:-

The Laois Rally Sports Club will be erecting the appropriate signage and arranging manned points to divert traffic to the alternative route. Local access will be provided in emergencies. A map indicating the routes to be closed is available below.

Temporary Lane Closure on the N80 Mountmellick Rd, Portlaoise

NOTIFICATION OF Temporary Lane Closure on the N80 Mountmellick Rd, Portlaoise from Market Square to the Ballyfin Rd junction, to facilitate undergrounding of overhead power lines and public lighting upgrades. Traffic Management lane diversion routes will be in place daily 8am to 7pm.

ON and/or BETWEEN the following dates & times
8am 20th May and 7pm 15th of July 2019

For the purposes of THMGroup, on behalf of Laois County Council are commencing renewal works on the N80 between the Ballyfin road and Market Square. These works will require a Partial road closure on this stretch of road. This will allow one way traffic from the Mountmellick side entering the town. All traffic coming from Portlaoise will be required to follow theDetour from market square along the R445 and along the ring road by the School. Any traffic wishing to enter any shops, houses, services train station will have to follow detour to follow the one-way system. This will be in effect from Monday 20th of May. This lane closure will take place from 8.00am until 7.00pm each day. There will be a diversion Route in place at this time.

N80 Mountmellick Rd

These works are to provide services for upgrading and future proofing of the powerlines and street lighting on the N80.

Laois County Council is seeking Expressions of Interest for sponsorship of the maintenance of a number of landscaped roundabouts located in Graiguecullen, Co Laois

Sponsorship of the roundabout will entitle the “Selected Sponsor” to have advertising rights on the roundabout. The roundabout offers an excellent promotional opportunity for business organisations.

In accordance with the provisions of Section 73 of the Roads Act 1993, Laois County Council hereby gives notice of its intention to extinguish the public right of way over a section of walkway at Rathevan, Portlaoise, Co. Laois.

Maps showing the section of walkway over which it is proposed to extinguish the public right of way may be inspected at the offices of Laois County Council, Áras an Chontae, Portlaoise during normal opening hours from Tuesday 9th October 2018 to Wednesday 7th November 2018.

ROADWORKS INFORMATION

Our overall objective is to construct, maintain and improve public roads and motorways to cater for the ever increasing volume of traffic and to provide the necessary infrastructure to support economic and social development.

The other principal activity is the implementation of traffic management schemes, cycle and pedestrian facilities, road safety measures including the promotion of road safety awareness and the operation of the school warden service.

“Public Road” as defined by Section 11 of the Roads Act, 1993 is any road over which a public right of way exists and the responsibility for its maintenance rests with the roads authority”.

Roads are classified as follows:-

  • National Primary – major roads linking cities, principal ports, airports and large towns and declared to be a national road by the Minister for Environment and Local Government under the Roads Act, 1993.
  • Regional Roads – are declared to be regional roads by the Minister for Environment and Local Government and are important feeder routes to the national roads
  • Local Roads – includes all urban and rural other than national or regional roads.
