Laois Short Film Bursary 2023

This Bursary aims to foster talent, creativity and activity in filmmaking in County Laois. We are looking for original, entertaining stories by talented filmmakers who, if selected, must set and shoot their project in County Laois.

A bursary of €10,000 will be awarded to a filmmaker towards the cost of production of a short drama or documentary film of 10-12 minutes duration shot in Laois in 2023.

Deadline for submissions of applications is 4pm on Friday, January 13, 2022.

ReCreate Creative Sustainability Training programme

Creative Ireland Laois in collaboration with Recreate Ireland and in conjunction with Dunamaise Arts Centre are seeking eight creative practitioners and/or community workers from Laois to participate in a new Creative Sustainability training programme focussed on the ethos and practices of ReCreate Ireland.

Successful applicants will participate in a hands-on training programme delivered by ReCreate Ireland and in-house team of full-time artists. Based on the ethos and practices of ReCreate, the training will support creatives to devise and facilitate innovative creative reuse programmes as part of their practices, and community development/programming for a diverse range of age groups and communities.

Upcoming deadline is Wed Sept 28.

LIVE Sketching with Fadó Faces exhibition artist Allen Scully

Dunamaise Arts Centre – Gallery

Fri September 23, 6-7.30pm

This ninety minutes workshop is for artists/creatives of all ages and levels of experience. All you need to do is bring your own materials and tools, e.g. sketchbook, paper, pencils, etc. Sitters invited to pose for you include elected members of Laois County Council.

Creative Ireland | Laois County Council Equipment Grant Scheme

The Equipment Grant Scheme is for creative and cultural individuals and/or groups living and operating in Laois. The grant can be used only for the purchase of equipment that contributes to creative and cultural activities within Laois. A maximum grant of €1000 only will be awarded to an individual or group.

Creative Ireland | Laois County Council ‘Made in Laois’ Grant Scheme

The ‘Made in Laois’ Grant Scheme aims to bring together a creative practitioner / organisation and collaborate with a local community / communities of place and interest. The grant scheme is only for co-creation and collaborative initiatives that contribute to creative and cultural activities within Laois. The amount awarded will be based on the quality of application with a maximum grant of €2000
per successful application.

Call out for Artists for Laois Festival of Flight  (Thurs April 7 – Sun April 10,  2022)

Laois County Council Heritage Office and Creative Ireland Laois are programming a series of workshops for Laois Festival of Flight in Portlaoise.  We are seeking artists that work in a range of diverse media to design, manage and deliver workshops that will inspire children & young people to creatively and imaginatively respond to the theme of ‘flight’.

The Festival of Flight is organised by the Col James Fitzmaurice Commemoration Committee in partnership with Laois Heritage Society, Music Generation Laois, Dunamaise Arts Centre, and Midlands Science.

Cruinniú na nÓg 2021 Open Call Grant Scheme

Laois County Council – Creative Ireland Laois is seeking artists to create and deliver a programme of activities/ events to celebrate Cruinniú na nÓg on Saturday 11 June,  2022.

We are inviting applications from creative practitioners, artists, and art organisations /groups  (including a team of creative practitioners) who have the capacity to devise, facilitate and deliver creative content and activities for children and young people in any medium or artform (examples include theatre, music, circus, street art, performance, fashion, photography, digital arts, installation art, literature, storytelling, architecture, coding, biodiversity, folklife, heritage, archaeology, landscape), in specific town or village in Laois.

-Our ambition is to support via grant aid a number of specific creative programmes with a range of creative activities in towns and villages in Laois.

If you are a community organisation/group, you should work with a creative practitioner(s)/artist(s) to put together the proposal and for the practitioner(s)/artist(s) to lead on the creative content.

In particular, we welcome and will prioritise applications that gives access to groups of children and young people who haven’t had such opportunities before.
