Proposed Traffic Calming Works on the R433 and R435 Rathdowney

Pursuant to the provisions of Section 38 of the Road Traffic Act, 1994, Laois County Council hereby gives notice of its intention to implement traffic calming measures at the following locations:

  • the R433 Rathdowney at St. Fergal’s Secondary School, and
  • the R435 Johnstown Road, Rathdowney at Erkina Court estate.

At St. Fergal’s Secondary School the works will comprise the construction of a raised zebra crossing, widening of footpath, tactile paving, drainage and public lighting. Two speed ramps (one either side of the pedestrian crossing) will also be constructed.

At Erkina Court the works will comprise the construction of a raised zebra crossing, extension of footpath, tactile paving, drainage and public lighting.

Drawings and particulars relating to the proposed works are available for inspection at the following locations from Tuesday 28th June to Wednesday 27th July 2022

  • by appointment at the offices of Laois County Council, James Fintan Lawler Avenue, Portlaoise, Co. Laois, Monday – Friday, between the hours of 9am and 5pm.
