COVID-19 Notice (26/03/2020)
Following the announcement on Tuesday 24th March 2020 by the Government, Laois County Council wish to advise that the Portlaoise Farmer’s Market will be temporarily closed.
This is in line with Government directives in an effort to slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus, which are to include the closure of all non essential business to provide for social distancing. This unfortunately includes the closure of theatres, leisure centres, playgrounds, marts and markets.
Accordingly, it is with regret that Laois County Council must not allow the Portlaoise Market to operate for a period up to and including 17th April 2020.
Any inconvenience caused by this closure is regretted. I hope that once normality returns, the people of Laois will make the extra effort to support our local producers when the market resumes.
