The Laois Local Studies research room will be closed to visitors from 23rd March 2023 until it reopens in the new Portlaoise Library branch. The Local Studies service will continue at reduced capacity during this period and local history stock will be available to the public in the Laois library branches. The Local Studies section is located in Laois Library HQ at The Old Mill, Church Street, Portlaoise, Co. Laois, R32 HDA3. This special collection consists of books, journals, newspapers, photographs, maps, slides, microfiche, microfilm and archival material. Local Studies is available for everyone, and particularly appeals to students, people researching the localities of Laois, those searching for their family histories, local historians and researchers who wish to avail of primary source material for their future publications and works.
