PRESS RELEASE – Arts Grants and Opportunities from Laois County Council

Laois County Council has announced details of grants and opportunities to support the development and presentation of creative and artistic projects in the county in 2024. Applications will be accepted from individuals, groups and organisations.

Laois County Council Arts Service will host two information sessions on upcoming grants and funding opportunities in 2024.  The first information session will take place in-person at the Dunamaise Arts Centre on Thursday 18th January 2024 at 7:00pm. The second information session will take place online via Microsoft Teams on Tuesday 23th January 2024 at 7:00pm. Please email artsoff@laoiscoco.ie to register.

Under the Arts Act Grants 2024, provision has been made by the Council for the payment of grants to Laois arts organisations and individuals who meet the artistic and financial criteria set down by Laois County Council and who provide adequate information on their proposed activities.  Funding is usually between €200-€500.

The Tyrone Guthrie Residency Bursary Awards 2024 will see support given to two Laois artists to spend one week working at the Tyrone Guthrie Centre in County Monaghan. The bursary is open to artists in all fields and is selected based on previous achievements and projects in hand.

Through the Artists in Schools Scheme 2024, grants are available for artists’ residencies in schools, to include all art forms. This scheme gives primary and post primary schools the opportunity to select and work with professional artists and explore new arts media. The grant has been increased to €2500 this year.

The Creative Ireland Laois Film Bursary is open for 2024.  This funding of €10000 is to fund the making of a short drama film or short documentary film. A prerequisite of this award is that it is produced and/or written by a Laois born or Laois resident. The film must be filmed on location in Co Laois and completed by the year end in 2024. A public screening of the film will be arranged locally by the Arts Office in association with the Dunamaise Arts Centre.

Finally, expressions of interest are invited for Laois Arthouse Studios and Residential Studios in Stradbally. Studios at €250 and residential studios at €250 per month, including utilities and waste disposal are available for a period of up to twelve months. Facilities include an exhibition space, kiln, garden, public library and WIFI.
