Vacant Commercial Property Incentive Scheme

The Vacant Commercial Property Incentive Scheme aims to encourage the use of vacant commercial premises within town centres. This scheme incentivises new businesses to occupy vacant premises by lowering entry costs in the form of a range of grants and mentoring opportunities.

Vacant Homes Office

The role of the Vacant Homes Office is to identify vacant properties in County Laois, particularly in areas of high demand, and to facilitate their return to use as housing units.  The Vacant Homes Office will work with property owners to bring vacant properties back into use for social and private housing purposes. 

The main schemes available to Laois County Council for this purpose are: 

Vacant Property Refurbishment Grant (Croí Cónaithe (Towns) Fund) 

Vacant Homes Reporting

You can notify Laois County Council about issues with vacant private homes and vacant local authority homes.

Vacant Sites Enforcement

Local authorities may take action against owners of vacant sites that could be suitable for housing development.

Vacant Sites Levy Payment

Owners of land or property which is entered on a local authority vacant sites register may have to pay a levy.

Vacant Sites Register Consultation

Local authorities may accept comments and objections from owners of land or property that is being considered for entry onto the vacant sites register.

Vehicle Conversion Declaration

You must register the conversion of your vehicle with Laois County Council if you change its EU vehicle category, number of seats or body type.

Visual Art Exhibition Programme

Local authorities invite proposals from professional artists, curators and arts organisations to create visual artworks and submit them to be considered for public exhibition.

Voids Management

Laois County Council manage and repair vacant properties before reletting them to prospective tenants.

Voting and Election Guide Publication

Laois County Council publishes guides in Irish, English and some European languages to explain how the Irish voting system works and how the public can to exercise their right to vote.

Waste Collection Permit

The National Waste Collection Office in Offaly County Council issues waste collection permits to approved collectors or transporters of waste.

Waste Facilities Register

The National Waste Collection Permit Office in Offaly County Council maintains a public register of all waste facility permits and certificates granted, reviewed, revoked and expired across all local authorities.

Waste Facility Permit

You must apply to Laois County Council for a waste facility permit or a certificate of registration if you want to operate a waste facility.
