Laois County Council may support local residents and landowners to restore regional and local roads which serve their properties. Residents and landowners must pay a contribution to the restoration works.
The Community Involvement Scheme (CIS) is also known as the Community Involvement Roadworks Scheme and is funded by the Department of Transport.
This scheme encourages a joint approach between the local authority and groups of residents and landowners for the restoration of public roads.

As well as being dead ends they may also link two local primary roads or two local secondary roads.
The CIS is subject to funding from the Department of Transport. Conditions of the scheme may change every year in line with the grant conditions set out by the Department of Transport.
