Temporary Road Closure Request

You must apply to Laois County Council if you want to temporarily close a road to facilitate building works, store materials, erect hoarding, fencing or scaffolding or place a crane or hoist on the road.

What is it?

At times, a temporary road closure is needed in conjunction with a road opening licence, for an event or for other works.  

To comply with statutory requirements, an application for a temporary road closure should be submitted 8 weeks in advance of closure.

Two notices are required to go in the local paper 

  1. Notice of intention and 
  2. Notice of decision

The applicant will be invoiced for the cost of placing advertisements.
