Met Éireann predicts a period of very cold and wintery weather forecasted for the weekend and into next week.
Very cold weather is moving in over the country through the weekend extending into next week, bringing with it the potential for low day time temperatures and the possibility of snow at low levels.
There is a strong possibility of heavy rain, strong winds with some sleet and snow especially to the north and further south on Sunday due to cold artic air. This will bring with it, a period of very cold day and night temperatures with the risk of snow both at high and lower ground.
The council will be out on the salting routes during this period of very cold wintery weather. Motorists are being asked to take care on the roads and reduce speed. Please also follow Met Éireann for further updates and weather warnings.
