Byelaws Publication

Laois County Council publishes byelaws which outline the rules that apply to cemeteries, parking, speed limits, casual trading, the control of dogs and horses, and other service areas.

Bye laws in Laois

The Local Government Act 2001 (Section 199) provides that Laois County Council may make a byelaw where in its opinion;

  • it is desirable in the interest of the common good of the local community that any activity should be regulated or controlled by bye-law,

    OR

  • that any nuisance should be controlled or suppressed by bye-law.
