Who is liable to pay rates?
The occupier of the premises is liable to pay rates. If there is a change in occupation during the year, then the rates are liable on a pro-rata basis between the relevant occupiers. property is unoccupied, then the owner is liable.
When are commercial rates payable?
The Rate Demand is issued annually (February) and is due plus arrears (if any) when the Rate Bill is issued.
Can I spread my rate payment over the year?
Yes, by signing up to a Standing Order Mandate. Laois County Council will accept monthly payments once the Rate Charges are paid in full by the year end.
