Laois County Council provides financial support to new businesses which intend to set up in premises that have been vacant for a specified time.
The Business Incentive Scheme is intended to encourage the use of vacant commercial premises.
Grants are available to incentivise new businesses to locate in premises that have been vacant for a period exceeding six months and to encourage diversity of retail opportunities within the social heart of each town, certain terms and conditions may apply.

The grant gives businesses a reduction on their rates over a three year period:
75% reduction in Year 1
50% reduction in Year 2
25% reduction in Year 3
