Greenways and Blueways

Laois County Council may provide greenways (trails on land) and blueways (water trails).

These Greenways and Blueways provide trails where people can cycle, hike, walk, paddle, canoe or kayak.

Greenway in Laois

Triogue Way - Portlaoise 

The Triogue Way in Portlaoise provides a direct walking and cycling route in the heart of Portlaoise from the Southern Circular Road to the Peoples Park.  The route starts at the Southern Circular Road beside Educate Together, Maryborough and the Gaelscoil primary schools.  This project is in keeping with Portlaoise’s designation as a Low Carbon Town as Laois County Council aims to enable and to support more sustainable travel patterns throughout Portlaoise.

Blueway in Laois

The Barrow Way - Vicarstown

The Barrow Way in Vicarstown is s a popular walking route and is also used by cyclists.  The route overall is 120Km long. Starting in Robertstown, Co. Kildare following the Barrow Line to Athy where it joins the River Barrow tow path and goes all the way to St. Mullins in south Carlow.
