Green Schools is an enduring environmental education and awareness programme where schools and communities collaborate for a sustainable future. The initiative aims to enhance environmental awareness among students through classroom studies and inspire them to take positive environmental actions within their schools and communities.
Upon successfully completing each theme, schools can apply for the prestigious Green Flag Award. Laois County Council’s Environmental Awareness Officer organises various events, workshops, and competitions for schools across the county. The council actively promotes and supports schools interested in joining the Green Schools Programme.
