Public Lighting Fault Reporting

You can report faulty public lighting to the private operator maintaining the lights on behalf of Laois County Council.

Laois County Council is responsible for the provision and maintenance of public lighting in the county. A contract for maintenance is in place with Killaree Lighting Services for maintenance of public lighting.

How do I report a public lighting fault?

All street light defects in Laois can be logged by visiting the Dead Sure App site. This is the quickest and most convenient way to get the light fixed.

Alternatively, you can phone 057 866 4000 or email roadsadmin@laoiscoco.ie with the following information:

  • The town/village and street name
  • The number on the pole if available
  • The location of the light for example outside house number 8
  • Your name and contact information

If the housing estate has not been taken in-charge by Laois County Council, then the developer of the estate is responsible for the maintenance of the public lighting.

Please note: If there is a fault with the underground power cable to any light, we must refer this to the ESB. This means that the repair can take longer.
