Taking in Charge of Estates Certificate

Laois County Council issue certificates to residents to confirm that the local authority has taken charge of the roads and services within a housing estate.

Requests for Certificates of Roads & Services in Charge

How to apply

To obtain a “Roads & Services Certificate” you should submit 

  • a written request by email to roadsadmin@laoiscoco.ie or post to the Roads Section, Laois County Council, Áras an Chontae, JFL Avenue, Portlaoise, Co. Laois. R32 EHP9
  • include a map outlining the property 
  • enclose the administration fee of €100 

Please note that it takes a minimum of one week to process requests for certificates and this should be taken into consideration when selling or buying property. 

How to make a payment

The fee may be paid in any of the following ways:  

  • Cheque addressed to Laois County Council
  • Card payment direct to our Cash Office by Tel: 057 867 4308 between 9.30 am and 3.30 pm, Monday to Friday.  Please also revert to roadsadmin@laoiscoco.ie with the Cash Office Receipt Number.
  • Via electronic funds transfer (EFT) into Laois County Council’s Bank Account>  please contact roadsadamin@laoiscoco.ie for the bank details.
