The Abbeyleix Bog Project will represent Laois proudly in the 2024 Pride of Place awards on 2nd November in the special Climate Action and Biodiversity category. Abbeyleix Bog Project is a wonderful example of community led conservation which showcases the powerful impact of local efforts in climate action and biodiversity
When the Pride of place judges attended Abbeyleix Bog in July, they commended the project, describing the presentation as exceptional and noting the community's strong commitment and diverse activities. She highlighted the recovery of the active raised bog from 1% to 13.5% as a significant achievement. They also praised Abbeyleix for it's previous achievements and its strong sense of community.
The winners of the IPB All Island Pride of Place Competition 2024 will be announced on Saturday, 2nd November, at the Gala Dinner and Award Ceremony at The Hillgrove Hotel, Monaghan. The Abbeyleix community eagerly awaits the results, hopeful for a well-deserved win.
