Book Lending

There are over 150,000 books available to borrow across 8 Laois library branches. In addition, all public libraries in Ireland have access to a shared national catalogue, so book titles can be ordered from another county and delivered to your nearest branch.  

You can borrow:

• a maximum of 12 items at a time
• for a period of 3 weeks. 

You will need your library card when checking out books at the library desk or at the self-service kiosk in branch.  

• Adult books can be checked out to people over the age of 18 who have an adult library card. 
• Young Adult books can be checked out to people over the age of 12. 
• Juvenile books can be checked out to all library card holders. 

Visit the online library catalogue to browse available titles and place a request for reservation. You will receive an email notification when your chosen title is available for pickup at your local library.
