Public libraries run activities and events for older people including digital skills training, author visits, creative workshops and networking opportunities.
All Laois Library branches have been accredited Age Friendly status. We aim to provide a welcoming, informative, and creative space for Age Friendly communities.
Libraries host targeted events and activities such as digital skills training, creative workshops, and good health information talks, for example.
We also provide some useful Age Friendly aids for use within our branches such as book trollies and magnifying glasses.
Each library branch has a nominated staff member designated as an Age Friendly Champion. Age Friendly Champions completed training, and conducted a survey with local community members, to identify actions that could improve how the library engages with older people.
