CCTV Policy Publication

Laois County Council publishes policies for the use of CCTV in local authority properties.

Laois County Council undertakes to operate its CCTV and to ensure that those who operate CCTV on its behalf do so within the terms of our CCTV policy and the law. Laois County Council will review arrangements regularly to ensure continuing compliance.  

Purposes

Laois County Council uses CCTV for the following purposes:  

  1. To protect and safeguard the health and safety of Laois County Council staff, Elected Members, customers, visitors and contractors.
  2. To safeguard and protect the security of premises both internally and externally and the plant, equipment and property under the remit of Laois County Council.
  3. To monitor the perimeter of Laois County Council and depots
  4. To capture images of intruders or individuals damaging property, removing goods without authorisation or behaving in a manner which presents a threat to Laois County Council staff, Elected Members, customers, visitors and contractors.
  5. To detect and prevent illegal activities, i.e. littering etc. And the prosecution of offences arising from same.
