Laois County Council considers requests from tenants who no longer want to be local authority tenants.
Any tenant of Laois County Council can surrender their rental property at any time by providing written notice and completing the Surrender of Tenancy Form.
Each tenant must submit their surrender notice in writing, and keys must be returned only to a Laois County Council employee.
According to the Housing Allocation Scheme, if a tenant surrenders their property, they cannot reapply for a different property for 12 months.
Any outstanding arrears must be paid in full before surrendering the property.
