Homelessness Information and Advice

Laois County Council provides information and advice to those who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.

If you are homeless you can come to the offices of Laois County Council, where a homeless assessment will be carried out during office hours.

If deemed homeless, Laois County Council will endeavour to offer emergency accommodation which is some cases could be outside the county.   Private B&B’s are the primary source of emergency accommodation and are managed at the discretion of the owners.

Anyone presenting as homeless will be required to complete an application for social housing support, if not already on the social housing list, to assess their eligibility for social housing supports.

People presenting as homeless with complex needs might be referred for additional supports to Housing First, The Regional Tenancy Sustainment Service and the Homeless Action Team (HAT).

If deemed not eligible for social housing supports, homeless accommodation will only be offered for a specific length of time.
