Traveller Accommodation Programmes are statutory programmes adopted in this regard. The following is the current programme which is for the period 2019-2024:
In accordance with the Housing (Traveller Accommodation) Act, 1998, Laois County Council (being the relevant housing authority specified under the Act) is preparing a new Traveller Accommodation Programme for the period 2025-2029. This plan will cover the functional area of Laois County Council.
Provision is also made for the establishment of a Local Traveller Accommodation Consultative Committee to oversee the preparation, implementation and review of any accommodation plan.
