Register of Electors

Laois County Council maintain a register of all eligible and registered people entitled to vote in local, national and European elections and referenda.

General information

In order to vote your name must be entered on the Register of Electors for the local area in which you live. Check if you are on the register or you can view the register at your:

  • local authority office
  • post office
  • Garda station or 
  • public library

Being registered to vote means that you can have a say in determining who represents you in local, national and European government. 

It is your responsibility to make sure that you are on the Register of Electors and that your details are correct.  You are not automatically registered to vote when you reach the required age.
