You can apply to Laois County Council to replace motor tax documents such as motor tax discs, registration certificates, log books or trailer licences.
You can apply to your local Motor Tax Office for a replacement document if the original is lost, stolen, or destroyed.
We will need an ‘RF134 Application for Replacement Document’ form which can be viewed and downloaded directly below
Please note the form must be completed by the registered owner of the vehicle. When filling out the form, there is a need to visit your local Garda Station and sign the form in their presence. They will witness your signature and verify by stamping and signing the end part of the form.
You can replace any of the documents listed below:
Please send or bring along the completed RF134 form with your payment to the motor tax office. Copies of discs, registration books and trailer cards are all issued in the office.
For a replacement Vehicle Registration Certificate (VRC), a receipt only will be given to you by this office. The VRC is then printed by the Department of Transport (Shannon, Co. Clare) and normally takes 3 – 5 working days to arrive.
If you have applied for a tax disc online or by post, but the disc has not arrived within 10 working days despite the address being correct, we can also issue a duplicate disc on receipt of an RF134 form. The replacement disc will be free if we are informed within one month. After that, the normal charge of €6 will be due.
