Local authorities publish child safeguarding and protection policies. These cover recruitment of staff and volunteers and training on how to identify and report child protection or welfare concerns to Túsla or An Garda Síochána (national police).
Laois County Council is committed to a child-centred approach to our work with children in all our services and activities. The Council has a responsibility to ensure the protection and safeguarding of children in all our interactions and create a culture of safety which promotes the welfare of children and young people availing of the Council’s services.
