Laois County Council and Minister Madigan announce 2019 Historic Structures Fund and Built Heritage Investment Scheme.
The Built Heritage Investment Scheme and the Historic Structures Fund will support the owners and custodians of protected structures in every local authority area across the country in 2019 as they carry out hundreds of small-scale, labour-intensive projects to repair and conserve our historic built environment. The projects will also provide vital support for local jobs in conservation, traditional skills and construction.
Josepha Madigan TD, Minister for Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht said: “I am delighted to announce the 2019 schemes are now open for applications. These two schemes represent an investment by my Department of up to €4.3 million to support more than 500 built heritage projects across the country in 2019.
“As part of the Estimates process this year, I made a firm commitment to increase the number of projects which could be supported under my Department’s very popular Built Heritage grant schemes. I am delivering on that commitment today.”
Cllr John King, Cathaoirleach of Laois County Council said “These schemes are a great boost to owners of historic properties and also bring a benefit to the county in terms of supporting construction jobs and traditional skills. I urge all owners and community groups to check out the details on the Laois County Council website and ensure they make the most of this opportunity”
