Laois County Library Development Strategy  2018-2022

Laois County Library Services are developing a new strategy to plan for library services for the future,  meeting the  current  and future demands of a   growing  and changing  population in the county. The lending of books(and media)  and the provision of  high quality  reading material  remains a  core function of public libraries. In addition   public internet sessions , WIFI sessions and printing/scanning services continues to increase .Libraries now offer free cultural, heritage , literacy and literature events ,  providing educational supports and information  resources for lifelong learning,  providing free meeting spaces, study areas and access to digital  and elearning supports. Libraries will have to meet the challenges of the ever growing digital world. In addition social inclusion and access for all citizens in the community continue to be a priority for public libraries in the county.
