Baby Book Club
The baby book club is based on the “Every Child Ready to Read @ your Library”, This is an American programme which was developed by the Public Library Association and the Association for Library Service to Children with the aim of libraries having a greater impact on early literacy through an approach that focuses on educating parents and caregivers. Everything within the programme is evidence based. We have adapted this programme for an Irish setting but the content remains evidence based and backed by research.
The premise behind it is very simply that children are learning to talk & read from the moment they are born through interactions with their carers and the 5 components which help boost early literacy (0-3 years) and help to get children reading-ready are Talking, Singing, Reading, Writing, & Playing. Each Baby Book Club session is based on these 5 components. The baby book club will meet weekly on Thursday, 10.30 am. Suitable for 0-3 years. Booking advised.
The book club meet monthly on Friday, 3.30pm-4.30pm. Recommended for 4-7years. Next meeting takes place on 21st February. Booking essential.
