Sunday 24th October at 8pm – Leave a Light On will be lighting up the darkness of the autumn evenings, by exhibiting a gallery of unique window displays across Portlaoise town centre. Many local businesses are offering the use of their windows to illuminate an artwork. Artists and local secondary school art students have created joyful works of art that will shine bright through the evening dusk. Scan the Leave a Light On QR code outside the Dunamaise Arts Centre for the guided map of window art, take a walk and enjoy a night gallery of creativity.
QR Codes
Each Building has a QR code outside, with information on the artwork , project and contact number and mental health service information. Simply Use your phone to scan the code
Example
How to use a QR Code
- Download a QRcode reader app . Open the QR Code reader on your phone.
- Hold your device over a QR Code so that it’s clearly visible within your smartphone’s screen.
Two things can happen when you correctly hold your smartphone over a QR Code.
-
- The phone automatically scans the code.
- On some readers, you have to press a button to snap a picture, not unlike the button on your smartphone camera.
- If necessary, press the button.
Presto! Your smartphone reads the code and navigates to the intended destination, which doesn’t happen instantly. It may take a few seconds on most devices.
You will begin to see QR codes all over the place. They are used to educate, inform, explain, and for many other reasons. Watch for them and have your QR Code reader handy! Once you get the hang of it, QR Codes will save you a lot of time and effort.
if you don’t wish to download a QR Code app you can scan a Qr Code using you camera.
