DRCD Community Enhancement Programme 2020

Michael Ring TD, the Minister for Rural and Community Development, has recently announced details of the 2020 Community Enhancement Programme (CEP) and highlighted the potential benefit of the Programme for local communities.

The CEP is funded by the Department of Rural and Community Development and will provide €58,297 of grant funding for capital works towards enhancing the facilities available to communities in County Laois. 30% will be reserved for grants of €1,000 or less. The Programme has a focus on supporting groups in disadvantaged areas.

Typical enhancements under the Programme include the renovation of community centres and community amenities, improvements to town parks and common areas and spaces, and the purchase of equipment for community usage. The Programme has also supported energy efficient upgrades, development of community gardens, provision of defibrillators, CCTV, and sports and IT equipment.

The CEP is being administered by Laois Local Community Development Committee (LCDC).

DRCD Community Enhancement Programme 2019

The Community Enhancement Programme (CEP), which is funded by the Department of Rural and Community Development, provided  €136,524 of capital grant funding to community groups in County Laois in 2019, to enhance facilities available to communities.

Typical enhancements under the programme include the upgrading of community centres, community amenities, improvements to town parks, common areas and spaces, CCTV equipment, defibrillators, IT equipment and energy efficiency-type projects

A total of 90 community groups in County Laois received funding under this scheme, with a good spread of funding across the county.

In addition €9,162 was also provided to support the work of 5 Men’s Sheds through the Community Enhancement Programme

The CEP is the result of a significant exercise in the streamlining of schemes and programmes carried out by the Department of Rural and Community Development and it is envisaged that further schemes of this type will be rolled out in 2020

 

DRCD Community Enhancement Programme 2018

In 2018, The Community Enhancement Programme (CEP),  provided €284,032 of capital grant funding to community groups in County Laois.

A total of 92 community groups in County Laois  received funding under the scheme and €10,145 was also provided to support the work of Men’s Sheds through the Community Enhancement Programme.  7 Men’s Shed groups in Laois  received funding under the programme.
