Laois County Council are now inviting applications for Round 2 of the 2020 Town and Village Renewal Scheme- Accelerated Measures. This is a great opportunity for communities who may have a project in mind in response to Covid 19.
The Town & Village Renewal Scheme, funded by the Department of Rural and Community Development, is part of a package of national and local support measures to rejuvenate rural towns and villages throughout Ireland. The scheme is specifically targeted at rural towns and villages with populations of less than 10,000
In 2020, the Rural Development Investment Programme, including the Town and Village Renewal Scheme, is being tailored to address the emerging challenges associated with COVID-19. For the Town & Village Renewal Scheme this means:
- The introduction of a new strand of the Town and Village Renewal Scheme for 2020 that focuses on immediate interventions that can be delivered in the short-term to assist towns and villages to adapt to COVID-19.
The maximum grant level of funding is €25,000 per project, with the possibility to increase to €40,000. The maximum grant level will be 90% of the project cost. The remaining 10%must be provided with a minimum 5% cash contribution which may be contributed by the Local Authority and/or the community and/or philanthropic contributions.
Expression of Interest forms are now being accepted by Laois County Council Town & Village Renewal Scheme 2020 – Accelerated Measures Round 2.

Closing date for submitting an ‘Expression of Interest’ is Monday 31st July 2020 (4PM)
All applications will be submitted to a selection process using national criteria. Selected Expression of Interest applications will be developed into detailed bids for consideration for the 2020 Town and Village Accelerated Measures Scheme.
