PRESS RELEASE AT 15.30pm 5th March 2018 – LAOIS COUNTY COUNCIL

The agencies involved in Laois County Council’s Severe Weather Crisis Management Team reviewed the current situation at 3pm today.

An ORANGE status weather warning remains in place for County Laois.

All Laois County Council roads crews are deployed at present, focusing on remaining county and local roads. The road network has been reviewed and there are locations on some local minor roads, mainly in elevated areas, where roads remain blocked due to snow accumulations. We ask for your continued patience as Laois County Council crews endeavour, with the support of contractors, to clear these blocked routes as soon as possible.

Laois County Council continues to monitor winter weather threats through the specialist Viasala system.

With regard to any potential flooding risk, the Council continues to monitor river levels at this time. These levels remain low and will be monitored on an ongoing basis.

If you have any Council related queries please contact us at 057 8664000.

We would ask the public to check https://www.winterready.ie/en for information and advice on how to deal with potential adverse weather conditions affecting homeowners, businesses, farming community etc. Please also check on the elderly and isolated neighbours and friends and ensure they have adequate stocks of food and fuel.
